We are launching a new monthly series called "The Sunday Sermon". This will be a sub group of Skeptics in the Pub. It will folllow a similar style to the regular Thursday lectures but there will be several differences:
- Speakers will all be Lothian based with the furthest afield speakers being from Glasgow. This means we can increase the number of speakers we have and offer local speakers a better opportunity to speak and discuss. Also, several of our main speakers are locally based giving more of an opportunity to see your favourite skeptic.
- Members of the group can also stage their own lectures. If there is a subject close to your heart that you want to do a lecture on, then let us know and we'll add you to our list.
- We are hoping to have the occassional "speaker from the other side" such as mediums or creationists to take the stage by themselves and present their evidence for their claims.
- Instead of a Q&A the second half will consist of a group discussion on the topic covered. This is completely voluntary and you can say as little or as much as you like.
- The entry will only be £1.50 instead of the usual £2.50 as expenses will be lower.
- Also, as it will take place during the day it means that under 18s can come along. This has been an issue for us as there have been several under 18s expressing an interest but unable to come along due to bar laws.
- It will be a more relaxed and involved style of event.
The talks will take place the first Sunday of every month at 2pm at The Newsrooms.
